Should We Baptize in the Name of Jesus or in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit?
Baptize In The Name of Jesus!
The simple truth of the matter is that baptizing in the name of Jesus is in reality baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The name of God the Father is Jehovah (Yehovah - the eternal, self-existent One) and Jehovah is the name that was given to Je'sus (Ye'shua or Yeho'shua in Hebrew), for He came in His Father's name. Jesus bears His Father's name by divine inheritance as the only begotten Son of the Father.
The name Je'sus means Jehovah Saves or Delivers. The Holy Spirit is, in reality, the very Spirit or Life of Jehovah, the Spirit or Life of the Father and of the Son. Thus, being baptized into the name of Jesus, 'Jehovah Saves,' is, in reality, being baptized into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is why the new testament church baptized in the name of Je'sus, even though Jesus told them to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. There is no contradiction or confusion at all when this matter is properly understood. GOD is the Father, of whom are all things; His Son, by whom are all things, is OF GOD; and the Holy Spirit is the very Life OF GOD and OF CHRIST.
The threefold name into which we are to be baptized is Jehovah Saves — the name given to Jesus! Therefore, we can only come to God our Father and receive the outpouring of His holy Spirit, His holy Life, by coming to Him in and through the glorious saving name of Jesus, Christ's given name, which means Jehovah Saves (Jesus), the threefold name that points to the three great powers of heaven: God the Father and His Christ, the only begotten Son of God, and the Holy Spirit, the very life and abiding indwelling representative presence of God and His divine Son. The Holy Spirit proceeds from God the Father and comes to us in the name of His only begotten Son, Jesus, the Anointed of God, in whom dwells all the fulness of God's own Life, God's own Holy Spirit. This Life is original, unborrowed, underived and is found in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

What is the truth, from Scripture, regarding the GODHEAD?
- Some people believe that the Godhead is a trinity or triune god, a mysterious three divine persons who are somehow one divine god being. This concept is not found in Scripture and was never taught by Jesus, the only begotten Son of the one true and living God.
- Others believe that the Godhead is composed of a trio or tritheist group of divine beings—God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The terms "God the Son" and "God the Holy Spirit" never appear in Scripture or the writings of Ellen White.
- The truth, as taught in Scripture and the writings of Ellen White, is that the term Godhead is actually dealing with... (1) the one true and living God, the Father, of whom are all things, the Source of all being, the Great Creator of the universe; (2) God's only-begotten (only born) divine Son, by whom are all things, the One made in the express image of His Father's person; and (3) the Holy Spirit, a spiritual manifestation, an omnipresent representative presence, called the Holy Ghost (Spirit of God, Spirit of Christ), which proceeds from the one true and living God and His beloved divine+human Son. Scripture teaches us about One God, One Lord and One Spirit, a heavenly trio, three living personalities; not a triune trinity being, nor three gods who always have been.
Confusion on this fundamental pillar of the Christian religion abounds, yet Scripture, taken "as it reads," is very clear as to the actual truth of the matter. 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 is a foundational teaching regarding this most important subject. There is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things. God always has been and before creation He brought forth His divine only begotten Son, by whom and for whom God created all things.
Note: The only begotten Son and the divine Spirit are OF GOD. The false teaching of three co-eternal, co-equal gods is polytheism or tritheism, which denies the monotheistic or one God teaching of Scripture. There is one Great Source of immortal life in the universe, the life of God the Father, which life God gave to His only begotten Son. Jesus said, "I live by the Father." John 6:57. In Jesus is life, God's life; original, unborrowed, underived life. Jesus also said, "The Father that dwelleth in me; He doeth the works." John 14:10. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself.
Having been on each side of the fence; once a trinitarian (three co-eternal divine persons who are mysteriously one god being), with tritheist leanings, and now a believer in the scriptural heavenly trio: One God, One Lord, and One Spirit - Ephesians 4:4-6. I will here endeavor to set forth the truth regarding the Godhead (deity, divinity, divine nature) (God the Father, who is all the fullness of the Godhead (divinity) bodily; God's only-begotten Son, who is all the fullness of the Godhead (divinity) manifested; and the Holy Spirit, who comes in all the fullness of the Godhead (divinity) making manifest the power of divine grace — (the divine fulness of God and of Christ) from the words of divine inspiration.

Scripture teaches that Jehovah, our Father, sent His only begotten Son from heaven to our world to save fallen humanity. See John 3:16-17. Jehovah God and His beloved Son desire to share with us the energizing presence of their divine Holy Spirit to empower and encourage us in our journey towards the eternal realm. God the Father and His divine Son are one in nature, character, spirit, heart and purpose, yet they are two persons, two individual beings. The Father always has been and the Son is of God, begotten, not created. The Son was begotten of eternal, always has been, divine substance, a part of God Himself.

WHAT WE ACTUALLY BELIEVE in regard to GOD and HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON and the HOLY SPIRIT ...
1. God is the Sovereign of the Universe, the Most High God, the God, Father and Head of Christ and is the Great Source of all being, life, and divinity. God is He of whom are all things (Romans 11:33-36; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6). God always has been and is the Great I AM.
2. Christ is the eternal (olam - from of old, from antiquity, from the beginning), self-existent (John 5:26), only begotten (John 1:14, 18; John 3:16-18; 1 John 4:9) ... Son of God, who was brought forth of God (Proverbs 8:22-30) and has received all things from His Father by divine inheritance. The Son is He in whom dwells all the fulness of God Himself by the agency of His own omnipresent divine Spirit, the Spirit and Life of God—the Spirit of God in Christ. The Son of God clothed His divinity with humanity and became our divine+human Saviour.
3. The Holy Spirit is the omnipresent Spirit, Life and Glory of God and of Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Cor. 2:10), which is also known as the Spirit of God and Spirit of Christ, the Comforter, the Omnipresent. This divine Holy Spirit, the divine Breath of Spiritual Life, proceeds from God the Father (John 15:26) and comes to us through and in the name of Jesus Christ, as the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of God's Son, the Spirit of Life in Christ (Romans 8:2, 9-10; 2 Cor. 3:17; 1 Peter 1:11), which brings the Life of Christ, His energizing presence, into the soul.
4. God and His Son are absolute Godhead, divinity, deity, divine nature; and the Holy Spirit comes in all the fulness of the divinity of the Father and the Son as their representative divine presence or agency. The Spirit is called the "third person of the Godhead" which means "the omnipresence of divinity," which in reality is the Spirit of God in Christ and the Spirit of Christ in us. Godhead equals Father and Son; and the Holy Spirit is the spiritual manifestation of divinity, Father and Son, which brings the very life and omnipresence of God and His Son to the universe.

The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
The Father can not be described by the things of earth. The Father is all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and is invisible to mortal sight. The Son is all the fullness of the Godhead manifested. The word of God declares Him to be “the express image of His person.” “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Here is shown the personality of the Father.
The Comforter that Christ promised to send after He ascended to heaven, is the Spirit in all the fullness of the Godhead, making manifest the power of divine grace to all who receive and believe in Christ as a personal Saviour. There are three living persons of the heavenly trio. In the name of these three powers,—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, those who receive Christ by living faith are baptized, and these powers will cooperate with the obedient subjects of heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ.
What is the sinner to do?—Believe in Christ. He is Christ's property, bought with the blood of the Son of God. Through test and trial the Saviour redeemed human beings from the slavery of sin. What then must we do to be saved from sin?—Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as the sin-pardoning Saviour. He who confesses his sin and humbles his heart will receive forgiveness. Jesus is the sin-pardoning Saviour as well as the only begotten Son of the infinite God. The pardoned sinner is reconciled to God through Jesus Christ our Deliverer from sin. Keeping in the path of holiness, he is a subject of the grace of God. There is brought to him full salvation, joy, and peace, and the true wisdom that comes from God.
Faith in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ is the assurance of pardon. Christ can cleanse away all sin. Simple reliance on that power day by day will give the human agent keen wisdom to discern what will keep the soul in these last days from the bondage of sin. By faith and prayer, through the knowledge of Christ, he is to work out his own salvation.
The Holy Spirit recognizes and guides us into all truth. God has given His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Christ is the sinner's Saviour. Christ's death has redeemed the sinner. This is our only hope. If we make a full surrender of self, and practice the virtues of Christ, we shall gain the prize of eternal life.
“He that believeth in the Son, hath the Father also.” He who has continual faith in the Father and the Son has the Spirit also. The Holy Spirit is his comforter, and he never departs from the truth.

PLEASE NOTE: In the above, often quoted statement by Ellen G. White, there is in reality no mention whatsoever of a trinity, or a triune, co-eternal (without beginning), three persons in one god being. There is also no mention of there being three god persons, three different god beings [God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit], which is tritheism or polytheism. Ellen White never mentions this type of being and the early SDA pioneers taught openly against the trinity doctrine of a three in one divine being. This teaching is pagan in origin and is nowhere found in Scripture. [Note: The phrases "God the Son" and "God the Holy Spirit" are never mentioned in Scripture or the writings of Ellen G. White.]
What is clearly mentioned in the statement above is a heavenly trio, three living persons, three powers—the Father (God above all), the Son (God's divine only begotten Son, who is now clothed with the personality of humanity), and the Holy Spirit (the omnipresent spiritual manifestation of the spirit of God and of Christ—the eternal Spirit, the Omnipresent, the "third person" or "omnipresence" of the Godhead—Father and Son, God and Christ). All the fulness of God dwells in His Son and the Spirit of Christ dwells in us. Thus our fellowship is with God and Christ, the Father and the Son. One God, one Lord, and one Spirit.
The preexistent, preincarnate, eternal Son of God was exalted to co-equal status with His Father by reason of His divine Sonship. He is truly and fully a divine Being. He is co-eternal with His Father from the beginning when He was brought forth, begotten of the Father. The heavenly council of peace was between them both, God and His Son. God and His Son created all the worlds and all the created beings, in the entire universe, together—they are all of God and by and for the Son. It was God who said to His Son, "Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness..." Genesis 1:26.
God the Father IS all the fulness of the Godhead BODILY. [Godhead = divinity, deity, divine nature. God the Father is divinity itself, the Source of all being. God is eternal life itself, He who alone hath immortality. See 1 Timothy 6:16. God is the head of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:3), the God and Father of Christ (Ephesians 1:3), therefore God the Father is the true or original GodHEAD. See Romans 1:20. God the Father is called the only true God because He is the original Deity, the true Source of divinity, of life eternal, of immortality.]
The Son IS all the fulness of the Godhead MANIFESTED. [Christ is the express image of God's person, a fully divine being, and a sinless human being. Jesus stated, "I live by the Father." See John 6:57 and John 5:26. We come to God through Jesus alone. He is the only WAY to the Father, He manifests the TRUTH about the Father, and He brings to us the LIFE of the Father (John 14:6). The Son possesses the absolute GodHEAD, because God the Father dwells fully in Him by His divine Spirit (Colossians 2:9). The Son of God is literally clothed with and indwelt with all the fulness of the GodHEAD bodily, meaning He has all the fulness of His Father's divine Spirit, His Father's divine GLORY, LIFE and CHARACTER, dwelling in Him and clothing Him with divine grace and glorious LIGHT, filling Him with His Father's divine life and power. The Son is eternal, from all eternity, meaning that, as the only begotten divine Son, He is before all created things, from the beginning of God's way, from ancient times, from of old, from beyond the most distant horizon. His divine life cannot be reckoned by human computation or measured by figures. Therefore, while Christ's divine personality as the Son had a beginning, His divine substance, His deity or divinity or divine life, has always been for it is literally a part of God Himself.]

The Comforter is the Spirit IN all the fulness of the Godhead, MAKING MANIFEST the power of divine grace. [The Holy Spirit is not another or third divine being, but rather the omnipresence of the Father and the Son, a representative presence, an omnipresent personification of God and His Son. The Spirit proceeds from God and Christ. It is a personal presence, a divine personality—the Spirit of God which dwells in and flows through Christ making manifest to us the power of divine grace. The divine Spirit comes to us in Christ's name, representing and personating the man Christ Jesus.]
In the Bible, God is the Father of Christ. The Father is the one of whom are all things. God the Father is the God and Father of Jesus Christ. God is the head of Christ. God is greater or elder than Christ. God always has been.
Christ is the divine only begotten Son of God. Christ, the Son of God, is the one by whom are all things. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. Christ is now fully human and fully divine.
The Holy Spirit is the omnipresent spiritual manifestation of the spirit of God and His Son. God sends the spirit of His Son into our hearts crying, Abba, Father. Ellen White also states, "We want the Holy Spirit, which is Jesus Christ." We overcome sin by the power of Christ's omnipresent divine Spirit dwelling in us. Christ in you is the hope of glory. Christ's divine Spirit dwells in all true believers, thus it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me. Sin is overcome by the power of God in the third person (omnipresence) of the Godhead (divinity, deity, divine nature), which is, in reality, the omnipresent spiritual manifestation of the divine Spirit of Christ. Thus, Christ in you is the hope of glory.
Unfortunately, what most people forget is the fact that God is a divine Spirit Being and His divine Son is a divine Spirit Being who is now clothed with the personality of humanity. Jesus has a dual nature, He is both divine and human, two distinct individual natures united in the man Christ Jesus. Jesus is a divine person and a human person—a divine Spirit (Son of God) dwelling in a temple of flesh (the man Christ Jesus). The Bible teaches us about a trio—Father, Son and Holy Spirit, not a trinity, a three in one being. In the Bible, God is the Father of all, the ultimate Source of all being, of whom are all things; Christ is the Son through whom the Father works His wonders, the only begotten Son of God the Father; and the Holy Spirit is the spiritual manifestation, the omnipresent representative presence, the divine Spirit of God and the divine Spirit of Christ.
Throughout the Bible we find one God, one Lord, and one Spirit. God and His Son share one Spirit, one divine Life, one divine nature. The divine Son was begotten, born, made, brought forth, formed of the Father's own "always has been," "always has existed," divine substance—"before all creation," "in the beginning of God's way," "from all eternity," "from ancient times," "from everlasting." Thus the divine Son is literally a part of God Himself, His express image, His true and only begotten Son, His second Self. The Son is fully divine, having been in the presence of His Father "from the beginning." "In the beginning was the Word ... and the Word was God (fully divine in nature, literally born of God Himself)."

The divine nature or substance of which the Son of God was begotten, born, made, formed or brought forth has always existed, it being a part of God Himself, truly and fully divine, yet Christ's individual personality, His personal identity, as the divine Son of God, has existed from "the beginning," when He was "brought forth" of God's own divine substance, Him who was made in the express image of God's own person. Thus Jesus, the eternal preexistent, divine Son of the one true and living God, has been in the presence of His Father "from the beginning of God's way."

You do not yourself really know the evidence he has for his faith, and you cannot clearly define your own position. Take your Bible, and in a kindly spirit weigh every argument that he presents and show him by the Scriptures if he is in error. Jehovah, the eternal, self-existent, uncreated One, Himself the Source and Sustainer of all, is alone entitled to supreme reverence and worship.
Jehovah, our Father, and His Son Jesus Christ are alone to be exalted.
Jehovah is the name given to Christ.
In the judgment pronounced upon Moses, the Israelites had unmistakable proof that He who had wrought such a wonderful deliverance for them in bringing them from Egyptian bondage, was not Moses, but the mighty Angel who was going before them in all their travels, and of whom the Lord had said, “Behold, I send an angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice; provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions; for my name is in him.” The Lord had committed to Moses the burden of leading his people, while the mighty Angel, even the Son of God, went before them in all their journeyings, and directed their travels. Because they were so ready to forget that God was leading them by his Angel, and to ascribe to man that which God's power alone could perform, he had proved them, and tested them, to see whether they would obey him. At every trial they failed. Instead of believing in, and acknowledging, God, who had strewn their path with evidences of his power, and signal tokens of his care and love, they distrusted him, and ascribed their leaving Egypt to Moses, charging him as the cause of all their disasters.
The great Teacher held in His hand the entire map of truth. In simple language He made plain to His disciples the way to heaven and the endless subjects of divine power. The question of the essence of God was a subject on which He maintained a wise reserve, for their entanglements and specifications would bring in science which could not be dwelt upon by unsanctified minds without confusion. In regard to God and in regard to His personality, the Lord Jesus said, “Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known Me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father.” [John 14:9.] Christ was the express image of His Father’s person. ¶ The open path, the safe path of walking in the way of His commandments, is a path from which there is no safe departing. And when men follow their own human theories dressed up in soft, fascinating representations, they make a snare in which to catch souls. In the place of devoting your powers to theorizing, Christ has given you a work to do. His commission is, Go throughout the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Before the disciples shall compass the threshold, there is to be the imprint of the sacred name, baptizing the believers in the name of the threefold powers in the heavenly world. The human mind is impressed in this ceremony, the beginning of the Christian life. It means very much. The work of salvation is not a small matter, but so vast that the highest authorities are taken hold of by the expressed faith of the human agency. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, the eternal Godhead is involved in the action required to make assurance to the human agent to unite all heaven to contribute to the exercise of human faculties to reach and embrace the fulness of the threefold powers to unite in the great work appointed, confederating the heavenly powers with the human, that men may become, through heavenly efficiency, partakers of the divine nature and workers together with Christ. ¶ Man’s capabilities can multiply through the connection of human agencies with divine agencies. United with the heavenly powers, the human capabilities increase according to that faith that works by love and purifies, sanctifies, and ennobles the whole man. The heavenly powers have pledged themselves to minister to human agents to make the name of God and of Christ and of the Holy Spirit their living efficiency, working and energizing the sanctified man, to make this name above every other name. All the treasures of heaven are under obligation to do for man infinitely more than human beings can comprehend by multiplying threefold the human with the heavenly agencies. ¶ The three great and glorious heavenly characters are present on the occasion of baptism. All the human capabilities are to be henceforth consecrated powers to do service for God in representing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost upon whom they depend. All heaven is represented by these three in covenant relation with the new life. “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things that are above, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God.” [Colossians 3:1.]
While they trust to the guidance of human authority, none will come to a saving knowledge of the truth. Like Nathanael, we need to study God's Word for ourselves, and pray for the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.”
For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) but to us there is but one God, the Father, OF WHOM are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, BY WHOM are all things, and we by him.

God is the Father of Christ; and Christ is the Son of God. To Christ has been given an exalted position. He has been made equal with the Father. All the councils of God are opened unto His Son.

We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history.

I – That there is one God, a personal, spiritual being, the creator of all things, omnipotent, omniscient, and eternal; infinite in wisdom, holiness, justice, goodness, truth, and mercy; unchangeable, and everywhere present by his representative, the Holy Spirit. II – That there is one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Eternal Father, the one by whom he created all things, and by whom they do consist; that he took on him the nature of the seed of Abraham for the redemption of our fallen race; that he dwelt among men, full of grace and truth, lived our example, died our sacrifice, was raised for our justification, ascended on high to be our only mediator in the sanctuary in heaven, where, through the merits of his shed blood, he secures the pardon and forgiveness of the sins of all those who penitently come to him; and as the closing portion of his work as priest, before he takes his throne as king, he will make the great atonement for the sins of all such, and their sins will then be blotted out (Acts 3:19) and borne away from the sanctuary, as shown in the service of the Levitical priesthood, which foreshadowed and prefigured the ministry of our Lord in heaven. See Leviticus 16; Hebrews 8:4, 5; 9:6, 7; 2 John 1:3.
A liar is one that presents false theories and doctrines. He who denies the personality of God and of His Son Jesus Christ is denying God and Christ. “If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son and in the Father.” [Verse 24.] If you continue to believe and obey the truths you first embraced regarding the personality of the Father and the Son, you will be joined together with them in love.
Preaching Contrary to Established Doctrines
“The angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.” We see here that the men in authority are not always to be obeyed, even though they may profess to be teachers of Bible doctrine. There are many today who feel indignant and aggrieved that any voice should be raised presenting ideas that differ from their own in regard to points of religious belief. Have they not long advocated their ideas as truth? So the priests and rabbis reasoned in apostolic days: What mean these men who are unlearned, some of them mere fishermen, who are presenting ideas contrary to the doctrines which the learned priests and rulers are teaching the people? They have no right to meddle with the fundamental principles of our faith. But we see that the God of heaven sometimes commissions men to teach that which is regarded as contrary to the established doctrines. Because those who were once the depositaries of truth became unfaithful to their sacred trust, the Lord chose others who would receive the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness, and would advocate truths that were not in accordance with the ideas of the religious leaders. And then these leaders, in the blindness of their minds, give full sway to what is supposed to be righteous indignation against the ones who have set aside cherished fables. They act like men who have lost their reason. They do not consider the possibility that they themselves have not rightly understood the word. They will not open their eyes to discern the fact that they have misinterpreted and misapplied the Scriptures, and have built up false theories, calling them fundamental doctrines of the faith.
But the Holy Spirit will, from time to time, reveal the truth through its own chosen agencies; and no man, not even a priest or ruler, has a right to say, You shall not give publicity to your opinions, because I do not believe them. That wonderful “I” may attempt to put down the Holy Spirit's teaching. Men may for a time attempt to smother it and kill it; but that will not make error truth, or truth error. The inventive minds of men have advanced speculative opinions in various lines, and when the Holy Spirit lets light shine into human minds, it does not respect every point of man's application of the word. God impressed his servants to speak the truth, irrespective of what men had taken for granted as truth.
Present Dangers
Even Seventh-day Adventists are in danger of closing their eyes to truth as it is in Jesus, because it contradicts something which they have taken for granted as truth, but which the Holy Spirit teaches is not truth. Let all be very modest, and seek most earnestly to put self out of the question, and to exalt Jesus. In most of the religious controversies, the foundation of the trouble is, that self is striving for the supremacy. About what?—About matters which are not vital points at all, and which are regarded as such only because men have given importance to them. (See Matthew 12:31-37; Mark 14:56; Luke 5:21; Matthew 9:3.)
